Kahurānaki marae is located on State Highway 2 in Te Hauke, 20 km south of Hastings, and within the rohe of Heretaunga. Its principal hapū are Ngāi Te Rangikoianake and Ngāti Whatuiāpiti of Ngāti Kahungunu.
The wharenui is also named Kahurānaki, while the wharekai is named Te Whakaahu. The marae connects ancestrally to the Takitimu waka, the maunga Kahurānaki and the moana Poukawa.
