Hīona

Hīona marae is located in Puketotara, Ngutunui, in the Waikato region, about 20 km north-west of Ōtorohanga. Hīona's principal hapū is Ngāti Pourāhui of the iwi Ngāti Maniapoto and Apakura. It connects to the awa Waipā, the moana Kāwhia, the maunga Pirongia and the Tainui waka.

Hīona consists of the wharenui Te Awananui and the wharekai Puna Aroha Puna Kai - and the name 'Hīona' is an English transliteration of Zion, which means ‘the righteous heart’.
