Pāhāōa marae is located in Pāhāōa, about 7 km west of Te Kaha on State Highway 35. Its principal hapū is Te Whānau a Kahurautao of Te Whānau a Apanui iwi.
The wharenui is called Kahurautao and the wharekai is Kiritapu. The marae connects ancestrally to Mātaatua, Te Arawa and Tauira waka, the maunga Whanokao and the awa Kereu and Mangatakauare.
