Kaputuhi Pā is located 11 km north of Te Kuiti, at the junction of State Highway 3 and Waitomo Caves Road. Its primary hapū is Ngāti Kaputuhi.
The wharenui is named Kaputuhi and the wharekai is Muri-Aroha. The wharenui was originally situated at Waikeria; it then moved to Te Kawa before relocating to its present site at Hangātiki in the late 1940s. The marae connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka, the awa Mangapū and the tribal collective of Ngāti Maniapoto.
