Hīrangi marae is located in Tūrangi. Its principal hapu is Ngāti Turangitukia of Ngāti Tūwharetoa iwi.
The wharenui is called Tūwharetoa i te Aupōuri, the wharekai is named Te Aroha. The marae connects ancestrally to Te Arawa waka, the maunga Pihanga, the awa Tongariro and the roto Taupo.
