Waikite (Tiki) marae is located in Ōhinemutu, on the shore of Lake Rotorua and next to Te-Papa-i-Ouru marae. It belongs to Ngāti Whakaue. The small whare is named Tiki and was carved by Tene Waitere (Ngāti Tarāwhai) in 1913. This whare replaced the older house also called Tiki (c1883) which was positioned closer to Tūnohopū, and which Gilbert Mair (Tawa) lived in whenever he visited Ōhinemutu. The current Tiki was erected by Te Wharetoroa Tiniraupeka (Margaret Graham), a survivor of the Tarawera eruption.
