Tuapō marae is located 44 km to the south of Ōpōtiki, in the Waimana Valley. The hapū are Tamakaimoana and Ngai Tamatuhirae of Ngāi Tūhoe.
The whare tipuna is named Te Ao Hou. Tuapō connects ancestrally to the Mataatua waka, the maunga Maungapōhatu and the awa Tauranga.
