Te Kōpua marae is located in Pokuru, in the Waikato region, about 20 minutes drive southwest of Te Awamutu. Te Kōpua rests upon the Kakepuku 9B1D1 Block and its associated hapū are Ngāti Kahu and Ngāti Unu of the Ngāti Maniapoto tribal collective.
The marae consists of the wharenui Unu and the wharekai, Hinemarama. Te Kōpua links ancestrally to the maunga Kakepuku, the awa Waipa and the Tainui waka.
