Tahuwhakatiki (Romai) marae is located in Welcome Bay, in the Tauranga region. It is situated at the mouth of the Waitao River. Its principal hapu is Ngā Pōtiki. The marae consists of the wharenui, Rongomainohorangi, the wharekai, Tuwairua, and is part of the Ngāi Te Rangi tribal collective. Tahuwhakatiki links to the maunga Kopukairoa, the awa Waitao, and the moana Te Tahuna o Rangatua. The marae was established in 1911 by Eruera Tamapahore Te Tahou.
