Mangakaretu marae is located 5 km west of Putāruru, on the road to Arapuni. The primary hapū for this marae is Ngāti Ahuru of Ngāti Raukawa.
The wharenui is Ngā Hau E Maha. The marae connects ancestrally to the Tainui waka, the awa Waikato and the maunga Maungatautari.
