Taihoa marae is located on the north side of the Wairoa River in Wairoa. Its principal hapū is Ngāti Kurupakiaka (Te Kāwiti).
The wharenui is called Te Ōtāne. The marae connects ancestrally to the waka Takitimu and the awa Wairoa.
